Your Life in Pink

October 20, 2024

Fall is the ultimate season of coziness, is it not?

The cooler temperatures call for sweaters and blankets that feel like a hug, comforting warm beverages, hearty meals, and feel-good movies and TV shows that give you all the warm, fuzzy feelings — we’re looking at you, Gilmore Girls!

But in between the coziness, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the season. The biggest holidays of the year are right around the corner, so our minds inevitably get bogged down by recipes, shopping lists, event invitations, and all the other tasks we have to do.

Luckily, you can find balance and escape the stress — even if only temporarily — by regularly engaging in self-care. Below we’re sharing our favorite fall self-care routines so you can nourish your mind and body all season long!

Our Favorite Fall Self-Care Routines

Try to practice some — or all of these — as much as possible for a happier and healthier fall!

Savor a warm beverage. Fall and cozy beverages go hand in hand! Whether you’re a proud pumpkin spice lover, a tea drinker, or you believe you don’t have to wait until December to drink a peppermint mocha, fall is the season for enjoying a delicious warm drink. But to make it self-care, you’ve got to really take your time and make a ritual of it. It’s not just about making a quick cup of coffee and rushing out the door. Be intentional about the activity. You can slowly sip on your drink of choice on a quiet Sunday morning at home, go on a cozy coffee date with a loved one, or enjoy an after-dinner brew while you wind down for the night. Take the time to savor every single sip.

Get in touch with nature. Fall is one of the most  if not the most  beautiful seasons of the year. Make the most of it, and enjoy the healing power of nature by spending some time in the great outdoors! You don’t have to travel too far if you can’t or don’t want to. Just swing by your favorite local park or promenade with great views of the changing leaves. Feel free to take as many pictures as you like to capture the beauty, but try to stay unplugged by avoiding a mid-walk social media scroll.

Pro tip: Make this a two-for-one self-care activity by bringing a delicious warm beverage with you on your nature walk!

Journaling. You might be spending more time indoors now, so take advantage of the quiet moments by journaling. Settle in with a nice drink, and take some time to reflect on the year that’s passed and the one to come. The beauty of journaling is that you can really make it your own: write about your most memorable experiences, spill out your random thoughts and dreams, set goals, or practice gratitude. You can keep it old school by writing in a physical journal, or feel free to type out your journal in a private document on your laptop.

Practice aromatherapy. What’s fall without a little scented candle action? You can also use an essential oil diffuser or incense just be sure to choose a pleasant scent that instantly puts you at ease. Have a quiet moment of meditation as you breathe in the fragrance, or use it to enhance the atmosphere for a fall movie night, dinner, or at-home spa night.

Read a book. Fall is the perfect opportunity to get your reading list back on track. Curl up with a good book on a quiet afternoon, and disappear into your own imagination! If you need some motivation, consider joining a book club or even just partnering up with a friend you can share your thoughts with. Did you know we have a Little Library right outside our front door?

Have a pamper session. You might be welcoming the cooler days, but the changing of the seasons isn’t always easy on our skin. Treat yourself to some TLC with an at-home spa day! Have a long soak in the tub (bath bombs, soaks, and salts are encouraged), apply a face and/or hair mask, and why not do your nails? Of course, you can book a professional session at a spa, but it’s something that can also easily be done at home.

Declutter & decorate. If you’re sprucing up your home for the new season, take some time to get rid of the things that aren’t bringing you joy while you’re at it. Decluttering isn’t a relaxing activity for everyone, but trust us when we say the end result will make you feel more at peace. Have fun with it by playing some great music or a comforting movie in the background, and don’t be afraid to enlist friends and family members that will make it more fun.

We hope this list has filled you with self-care inspiration for the fall! Which routines will you be practicing?

Hope to see you around the boutique soon! xo
