Your Life in Pink

July 1, 2025

The brightest and most vibrant season is here!

In many ways, summer is synonymous with relaxation. Lazy beach days, afternoon siestas in the sun, and a healthy amount of holidays all the way up until the leaves start changing colors.

But despite all of this, it’s a season that can be overwhelmingly busy. Maybe you have big travel plans, or you need to entertain the kids every day while they’re on summer break. Your schedule might be packed with plans for picnics, BBQs, day trips, and other events. They’re things that sound fun on paper, but actually involve a lot of planning and organization.

No matter what your plans are this summer, don’t forget to take a break! Self-care is so important any time of year, but it’s especially needed during busy spells. If you need some inspiration or you’re not quite sure what summer self-care looks like, we’ve got you. Read on to discover our favorite summer self-care ideas!

Spend time outdoors (without making too many plans)

Get back to the carefree nature of summer by keeping it simple when you go outside. No need to plan a full itinerary or pack a full cooler of supplies. Just take a casual stroll through your favorite local park, waterfront promenade, or any other natural area that calms you down. It doesn’t need to be a full day excursion. Even half an hour will do the trick.

This kind of time outside isn’t about ticking off any boxes or being Instagram-worthy. It’s just about relaxing, reconnecting with nature, and enjoying the warmth and brightness of the season.

Engage in yoga or meditation

These zen activities feel even better when accompanied by warm sunlight, birdsong, and a gentle breeze. Summer makes it easier to find a peaceful environment where you can connect with your mind and body, like your balcony or a quiet corner of your backyard.

If you already practice yoga and/or meditation, consider switching up your usual practice spot to somewhere outdoors. If you’re a newbie, you don’t even have to find a studio – there are so many great (and free!) videos available on YouTube.

Try a new outdoor activity (or rediscover an old one)

Now is the perfect time of year to try something new, or to fall back in love with an activity you haven’t done in a while.

Maybe this is the year you finally try paddle boarding or kayaking, take up jogging, or hit the tennis courts in your local park. Consider teaming up with a friend or family member, joining a meetup group, or taking a class. You might even be able to find free outdoor classes in local parks or city squares, so keep your eyes out for different opportunities.

Have a summer spa day

This can easily be done at home. As wonderful as the warmth and longer days are, the sun can be harsh on our skin. Soothe any irritation and get your skin beach-ready by giving yourself an exfoliating body scrub, a calming face mask, a hydrating hair mask, and a relaxing foot soak. Create a spa-like ambiance by lighting a candle or turning on an essential oil diffuser, and adorning yourself in a cozy robe.

PS – if you’re crunched for time, you don’t have to do a full-body treatment all at once. You can absolutely spread treatments out over the course of the season.

Make a feel-good summer playlist

Summer lends itself to vibrant, upbeat music that instantly lifts your mood. No matter what genre you’re into, there are certain songs that simply exude cheerful, summery vibes. Round them all up into your music platform of choice and blast them at any chance you get. Your playlist will make everything from everyday routines and chores to special events feel more fun. Singing and dancing along is strongly encouraged.

Attend a local event

Need a break from being your household’s designated event planner? Chances are there are plenty of people in your city that can happily take the reins.

It’s so easy to find local events during the summer, from farmer’s markets and county fairs to outdoor movie nights and cultural festivals. Keep an eye out for local flyers or have a browse through social media pages to find out what’s going on in your city, and attend events accordingly. All you’ll need to do is bring your essentials, your loved ones, and enjoy!

Have a lazy day at home

Sometimes, we get caught up with the on-the-go nature of the season and we feel that we always have to be out somewhere to enjoy the weather. The truth is that you can just kick back and take it easy. Don’t feel bad if you want to stay in. Read a book in your backyard, make an easy salad for dinner, and just relax. Your calendar doesn’t need to be booked all summer long. Summer is an exciting season, but that doesn’t mean you always have to get caught up in the excitement. Remember to breathe and carve out time for yourself!

We hope to see you around the boutique soon! xoxo
